- How does the 3D engagement ring design tool work?
- First, you design your perfect diamond engagement ring down to the finest detail including prong tips, pave size, and more. Next, you can share your custom ring design with your preferred local or online jeweler to discuss next steps including choosing your diamond center stones and ordering the finished ring. Once your center stones are finalized your jeweler will update the 3D design with your exact diamond dimensions. This ensures a secure fit for your diamond and guarantees the perfect prong arm lengths. Finally, you can order your custom ring directly from your favorite online or local jeweler. We work with a small number of top-rated online jewelers and can supply your design to any local jeweler of your choice. The design you build in our engagement ring design tool will generate a perfectly proportioned manufacturing design file that will be used to wax print a replica of your ring. That wax replica is used to create a plaster mold which is then filled with precious metal to create your actual ring. The metal is then polished and the diamonds are set before the ring is carefully inspected to ensure the highest quality. Your fully custom ring will be fully manufactured in America and ready for pick up or delivery in 3 weeks or less.
- Can I see a preview of my ring before purchasing?
- Yes, our 3D design tool allows you to see your custom design while you’re designing it. The design you see is what your finished ring will look like at delivery. Minor differences between the 3D render and the finished ring may occur since each ring is hand finished. However, the exact design you configure in our 3D tool will be used to automatically generate the specifications for your finished ring.
- What types of metal can I choose from for my ring?
- You can choose from a variety of metals, including platinum, white gold, yellow gold, and rose gold. Each gold color is available in 14 karat and 18 karat versions.You can even mix metals by choosing a different color for the ring’s head and band (also known as the “shank”). Each of these metals offers a unique look and durability to match your personal style.
- Are there different diamond shapes available?
- We offer 9 center stone shape options: round, oval, cushion, emerald, asscher, radiant, princess, pear, and marquise. You can choose a center stone carat weight from 0.25 carat to 10 carat for a solitaire engagement ring.
- How do I know which ring size to choose?
- We typically recommend getting your finger measured at a local jeweler for the most accurate sizing. You can also order a ring sizing tool online or measure the ring finger using a piece of string. You may not get the ring size exactly right on the first go, and that’s actually pretty common. Rings get resized all the time, which involves removing or adding metal to the bottom of the original band. For this reason, we don’t typically recommend an eternity pave engagement ring band unless you are 100% confident in your ring size. Half pave bands, three quarter pave bands, and plain metal bands can be resized more easily. When in doubt, overestimate the ring size slightly so it will still fit on your future fiance’s finger on the day you propose.
- Can I make changes to my design after I've completed it?
- Yes, you can make adjustments to your design before finalizing it with your preferred jeweler. Simply save your design or share it with your preferred jeweler and we’ll autosave to your “vault” on StoneAlgo. From the vault you can re-open one of your saved rings, edit it, and re-save it as many times as you like. Each edit and re-save will generate a new saved ring in your Vault and you can share your designs with your preferred jeweler at any time using StoneAlgo’s secure chat.
- How do I order my custom ring once the design is complete?
- After finalizing your design, you can easily connect with a top-rated jeweler through our platform who can order the ring on your behalf. The jeweler will need to update your design by entering the dimensions of the center stone(s) which will update the ring design slightly so that the prong arms, halo, etc. perfectly fit the diamond center stone.
- What is the average cost of a custom-designed engagement ring?
- The cost varies depending on factors such as the choice of metal, diamond, and complexity of the design. Our tool shows the retail price for your custom ring and updates in real-time as you design your ring, giving you transparency and helping your budget for your ideal ring. This price estimate does not include the cost of the center stone or stones. The price we show does include all of the smaller diamond details like pave diamonds on the band, pave prong arms, and halos.
- How long does it take to receive the finished ring?
- Rings are delivered in under 3 weeks from the time you place your order with your preferred jeweler. Rush orders are possible but may incur an additional fee, discuss with your jeweler if necessary.
- Is there a warranty or return policy for custom rings?
- Warranty and return policies vary by jeweler. We recommend discussing these details with your preferred jeweler before finalizing your purchase to ensure peace of mind.
- Can I design matching wedding bands using the tool?
- Yes, in the future our tool will allow you to design matching wedding bands to complement your engagement ring.
- What if I want to use a diamond I already own?
- Our tool allows you to design a setting for an existing diamond. Once your design is complete, you can work with your preferred jeweler to order the ring and have them set your diamond into the new ring design.
- Can I save my design and come back to it later?
- Yes, you can save your design at any stage and return to it later. Click “Save & Review” on the custom ring design tool to save your progress. You will need to create an account or log in to an existing account to save your progress and access your designs at any time.
- Are there financing options available for custom rings?
- Many jewelers offer financing options to help you purchase your dream ring. When connecting with your preferred jeweler through our platform, be sure to ask them about financing options.
- How can I ensure the quality of the diamond used in my ring?
- We partner with jewelers who provide high-quality, certified diamonds and recommend you choose a GIA, IGI, or AGS certified center stone. You can find diamonds in StoneAlgo's diamond search engine or check the quality and fair price of any GIA or IGI certified diamond using our diamond check tool.
- What if I have a specific design in mind that I don’t see in the tool?
